Baldwin Track & Field History
The Baldwin Track & Field program began its journey in 1940, built on grit, growth, & the pursuit of greatness.
But it wasn’t until the leadership of Coach Edward Helbig Jr. that the team reached its peak.
Coach Helbig joined the program in 1976 & became head coach in 1994. Over 49 seasons, he shaped Baldwin into a powerhouse—instilling discipline, integrity, & a relentless work ethic.
He wasn’t just a coach—he was the foundation on which generations of Baldwin athletes were built.
In 1992, Coach Wright joined the staff & quickly became a driving force in the team’s rise. His leadership, passion, & continued support—financial & otherwise—have been crucial to Baldwin’s growth & survival.
Without him, the program would not have reached the heights it did—nor survived the loss of Coach Helbig in 2024.
In 2023, Coach Amanda Setree joined the high school staff after leading the Harrison Middle School program since 2016.
From day one, she became the engine behind the scenes—ensuring every detail was handled with care, precision, & purpose.
Baldwin Track & Field has never had a booster club.
Coaches have carried the financial weight with some assistance from the School Board for decades.
